Errands

On Saturday we needed to pick up a few groceries and once we were done Rilla asked to ride the merry-go-round outside. It must be older than I am and is likely the only ride in NH that is still only $0.50.  Both boys decided to jump on which Rilla thought was great fun!

Ladies' night out

For a treat, six of my friends and I met at Margaritas tonight to enjoy some time with each other, minus kiddos and husbands and dishes and - well, all the stuff we love but occasionally need to step back from in order to truly appreciate it.
Liz came over with the kids and we fed them lots of spaghetti and her amazing homemade garlic bread before taking off to meet up with the others. As a special note, we celebrated Deanna's birthday while we were together.

The One Where Katie Doesn't Know What She Was Thinking

Recently John and I have "sold" hundreds of used books for a fraction of their cost, but we happily put the money we earned towards one of our favorite vices -- FRIENDS seasons 1-5 on iTunes! Sad but true. Thus the nod in tonight's title to one of our favorite shows.
What I learned today is that when adorable Evan innocently asks, "may we have ten minutes to talk after the lights are out?" and then claps his hands in glee, it is because in little boy speak "talking" is code for ripping apart the beds, flinging clothing ( which I had so carefully set out for the morning...), and basically doing anything BUT talking.
I also learned that despite all of that, boy sleepovers are so much easier than girl sleepovers!

Quattro de Mayo

Over a year since my last post, shame on me. At this point in the conversation I like to blame the fact that last June I decided we needed a puppy, but that still doesn't account for at least four months.
Next month John flies out to MI to interview for nursing jobs, which is our last step before moving there so he can attend NTBI, and unless I give in and do Facebook I have got to get on the ball with this blog.  (Bt the by, our adorable puppy was with us for six of the longest months of my life, a lesson having been taught to Yours Truly that sometimes just wanting to be able to do something - like have a puppy - isn't enough. Hard Parenting Truth #107.)
Met Mom, Dad and John at the park this morning, and once Rilla is up we head out to gather one of the three extra boys that is spending the night.

Teen Idols

Yesterday morning the boys were getting ready for church, and as I finished up Gabe's hair (he has JUST the kind of hair I always wanted) I told him he looked like a rock star.
"Hey, Mom, " Zach said as he came over for his turn, "can you make me look like Beethoven?"

A Drive in the Old Country

Mom and the Uncles took the boys on a tour of the Epsom one-room schoolhouses yesterday. I notice Zach has picked up Katy's habit of making the peace sign for pictures!
